A Cumbrian Singer and Songwriter,  harpist, guitarist and keyboards player now predominantly based in the folk pubs of Edinburgh.

 

When she was two years old, Ruth insisted on getting up on stage during celebration concert and delivering a heartfelt interpretation of All Things Bright and Beautiful just before Maddy Priors set. Her approach has evolved somewhat since then.

 

Drawing on a love of storytelling, her songs travel between different realms, stories and landscapes: a tavern in 17th-century Edinburgh, a wanderer lost in a storm on the fells, or the small, secret life of a hedgehog in the Cumbrian hedgerows. Her music drifts between memory and folklore, rooted in nature and the things that can’t always be said out loud.
